The Sims 4 launched back in September 2014 – and now, nearly nine years after this, has hit a new milestone of 70 million players.

This will have been accelerated by the availability of The Sims 4 across platforms compared to prior generations – such as PlayStation and Xbox, the free to play nature of the base game, and the longevity of this generation of the franchise. But, regardless of the factors that have played into this, it’s an impressive milestone when you consider how long it has been around for!

GameDeveloper.com quoted Phillip Ring, EA’s executive producer for The Sims 4, saying it’s “incredible to see how much our community has grown over the past eight years.”

Supposedly the free to play launch back in October 2022 has resulted in over 16 million new players, as well as an increase in average weekly users by 53 percent. That’s incredible!

    Commenting on this, Maxis said:

With the next generation of The Sims in development, titled “Project Rene”, as well as competition from former The Sims Studio head Rob Humble, it will be interesting to see how The Sims continues to evolve during The Sims 4’s remaining lifetime and when the next generation arrives.

How long have you been playing The Sims 4 for? Were you there at launch back in 2014, or have you joined recently? No matter where you are on your journey, we hope you’re enjoying it!
