As time goes by, it’s certainly starting to feel like Kits are The Sims 4’s answer to The Sims 3 Store. Quick and easy content drops to keep things fresh, explore new themes, and continue to keep us entertained. It sometimes feels like if you blink then you could miss one completely. It seems like there is no slowing down as The Sims 4 Carnaval Streetwear Kit is officially here as of the 3rd February 2022 on PC, Mac, PS4/5, and Xbox One/Series S/X. Much like other kits that have been released, Carnaval Streetwear is a collaboration between EA and Pabllo Vittar – a Brazillian Drag Queen and Music Artist. The kit celebrates the vibrancy of Brazil’s Carnaval! Think fashion and accessories in bold, vibrant colours, and one-of-a-kind items. Official screenshot from The Sims 4 Carnaval Streetwear Kit with Pabllo Vittar’s simself Carnaval Streetwear focuses on Create A Sim only – there are no new objects or gameplay in this pack which is something to keep in mind if you are not as interested in your Sims’ wardrobes and looks. It’s also worth noting there are no new additions for toddlers and children. With this in mind, you’ll find a selection of 26 new items arriving in Create A Sim consisting of new make-up, accessories such as earrings, new outfits and clothing, and even new nails! All of these new Create A Sim items are vibrant in colour and offer a variety of swatches for you to mix and match between. I am currently a big fan of strong, bright colours so I am pleased to see more of this making its way into The Sims 4. Plus, I can think of plenty of occasions for my Sims to wear some of these new items. Re-usability is always a key thing I look for with new packs, whether it’s an expansion or a kit, and a reasonable amount of the items tick that box for me. Some of the items you will get are slightly less inspiring and feel a bit lazy, which lets this kit down. There is one item in particular that has caught my attention – as well as the wider Simming community – which definitely shows this and I want to call it out. There is a pair of shorts for feminine Sims which has a belt and bumbag accessory on it, which just looks ridiculous. A very lazy piece of clothing found in the new kit Something like this should be more detailed and in 3D, or at least with a slight layered effect to give the illusion of depth. It’s a shame as I feel some items like this can make the kit feel cheap and inconsistent compared to some of the more fabulous items it has. For the rest of the kit, the items are quite glamorous, bright, vibrant and colourful. Everything you need to celebrate the Brazilian Carnival or to add some spice to your Sims’ party wear! There are also two new styled looks, available in a variety of different colour options, for you to be able to quickly get your Sims into these new items. Overall, The Sims 4 Carnaval Streetwear Kit offers a reasonable amount of new Create A Sim content, especially when you consider how much a kit costs. Some items are lazy and nothing here will change the way you play the game, but it is perfect if you’re looking for new items to deck out Create A Sim, particularly vibrant make-up and clothing. If that doesn’t make you excited then it may be best to wait for this to be on sale, and perhaps consider delaying your carnaval celebrations. Continue reading...
