It’s time to turn the clock back to the year of 2011 – that’s 8 years ago now! The Sims 3 was in full swing and a new expansion pack was nearing release in May. That pack was The Sims 3 Generations. Generations is the fourth expansion pack for The Sims 3, following the Late Night expansion, and built upon all of the life phases within the game, making them deeper and have more gameplay than before. The Sims 3 Generations brought bunk beds and the ability to read to kids in bed. The pack was initially teased days before being announced on the official The Sims social media channels, showing off items such as the push chair for toddlers and bunk beds. However, it was unofficially leaked on The Sims’ official channels with an early trailer for The Sims 3 Pets. The leaked trailer shown off the contents of the game ahead of the official release, but differed from the final announcement trailer. Each life stage focused on new areas. For children, imagination was one of the key areas and included an imaginary friend. For teens, the focus was more around parties, pranks and being rebellious. With young adults and adults, it was all about starting your adult life, getting married (with the addition of wedding arches!) and eventually having a midlife crisis. And finally, for elders, focusing on enjoying their golden years and exercising the right to be mean (or lovely, your choice). Activities for all generations were introduced in The Sims 3 Generations Generations was one of my favourite expansion packs for The Sims 3 was it really built upon the foundation that the base game provided and fleshed out a lot of areas. One of my favourite things were being able to WooHoo in the tree house, finally use wedding arches for proper weddings and using the push chairs/strollers to push toddlers around the town.
