A new competitor for The Sims is on the horizon and interestingly the people behind it are closer to The Sims franchise than you may think! Since 2019 it has been rumoured that former head of The Sims Studio, Rod Humble, could be heading up a team to create a life simulation game. As of today, it has become a reality with Paradox announcing a new game called Life By You. More is going to be revealed on March 20th and for now, we have simply been told “Paradox Tectonic GM Rod Humble will be unveiling the studio’s new game, Life By You. We can’t wait to share more, hope to see you there!”. This is a significant development in the life simulation genre as The Sims has had no serious competition for 23 years From the trailer, you can immediately see this is going to be a major competitor in the same way that Cities Skylines was to SimCity (which is also getting a sequel – Cities Skylines 2). As we enter a new generation of life simulation games, it looks like we will have Project Rene (The Sims 5), Life By You, and Paralives. It’s great to start to see some competition.
