After a few months of waiting, it’s official – keyboard and mouse support is arriving in The Sims 4 on Console next week!

That’s right, you will be able to plug in your USB / wireless keyboard and mouse to play the game, just like you would on your PC/Mac. This is welcome news as while I feel like the controls on console have got better as time has progressed, as they were buggy at release, The Sims 4 was designed for keyboard and mouse.

SimGuruLegacy provided more information on the upcoming console update, arriving on the 16th April 2019.

When you first start the game, you will have to use your controller to get pass the Start screen (where you press X / A on your controller). From this point, you will be able to have full keyboard and mouse control.

Mouse & Keyboard support on the PS4 and Xbox One re-enables some features that are not available on controllers, with The Sims 3 camera being one of those features. This will enable when using mouse and keyboard as the feature is not possible with a controller due to the complexity of the controls, SimGuruLegacy explained on Twitter.

You will also be able to disable edge scrolling if you wish in the game settings, however you will not be able to adjust the mouse sensitivity from inside of the game. You will need to do this in your console settings.

With this great news, all we need now is a gallery for the console! Hopefully it will only be a matter of time for this and then there will not be much of a gap between the PC/Mac and console experience for Simmers!
