It depends on what your downloading. I upload them in .package because I think it is easier to download and put in the mods folder. I don't mind upload my files in .zip, even knowing 98% of my CCs are one single package.
@SimsVIP @Josh Please don't get me wrong, I don't want to cause trouble. It was just a doubt of mine.
I went ahead and added .package support for the moment. We'll keep an eye out in the meantime to see how the user experience is for .package. I personally have some reservations about enabling .package but will do so for now. Note the following is not representative of anyone else who is working on the Workshop. From a technical standpoint, I prefer Compressed Files (ZIP, RAR, and 7Z) files because: File Integrity - We would know instantly that a Simmer downloaded the compressed file was was incomplete, the compressed file was corrupt, or the .package was corrupt. It removes a level of uncertainty that the Workshop was the reason the file was the culprit. Compressed files automatically checks during the unpacking process to see if the file is intact giving us not one but two levels of checks (first one being the actual file transfer; second one being the compressed file verifying everything). Allows for Multiple .Package Files - we would be able to support multiple .package files in a single compressed file. Smaller Files allows for less disk space to be used. Faster Transfer - Compressed files are smaller, allowing us to download files quicker. From a technical standpoint, I prefer .Package Files to Compressed Files because: Enables one to install .package files directly to the game. Spend time playing the game versus unpacking a file.
Apologies if this has already been addressed somewhere, but in the near future will there be options to upload Sims 3 CC other than poses?
@Mango we are going to add categories as they are needed. If you or any other custom content creator intends to add custom content for Sims 3, send me a message and we will add them as necessary.
Heya guys!first of all let me say i love this site!really fantastic work! I have been uploading my creations with no issues, but when i try to upload a sim with the tray files it gives me an error, am i doing something wrong? Thanks
Not sure if this is the right place to put this but since Kit pointed me in the right direction. Here it is. I need some help. Been thinking of uploading some of my houses to The Simsworkshop but I'm at a loss as I don't know what files I need.
Heya there Sugar Pop, there is a a way to do it and i find it a bit complicated to explain and do, but thanks to sims vip and Kit i found the sims4 tray importer, which is much easier to use, it gets all your tray files you want to share and puts them all into a zip file just ready to share with no fuss. You click the lot you want to share and then click export and it saves a zip file for you so you can just upload and share. You can get it here http://luniversims.com/files/file/73-sims-4-tray-importer/
No problem, i find this program much easier to share my lots and sims, used to be a nightmare before. Le me know if you need anything
Hiya! I mostly do Sims 3 custom content and I was wondering if we could get a general CAS label for sims 3??? Or is this what models is supposed to be? Just wanted to check in and clarify :]
We can do Sims 3 labels if there's a huge interest. Just let us know what you're looking for and we can start setting it up during our next major patch update.
